Hi Students:
ReplyDeleteAbout 7:00 and no comments. Hum…. Is this blog thing a waste of time? The purpose of this blog is to get you networking and helping each other to improve your knowledge of classification.
I think I reset the comments section so you do NOT need a Google account. If you need one they are FREE. Check with your parents before signing up for a free Google account.
See you tomorrow,
Mr. Carrison
Hi Mr Carrison, nice blog, hope your students like it.
ReplyDeleteCindy
Hey Mr. C,
ReplyDeleteBlog is looking good. I think the picture of Flash needs to be bigger though. Need to keep things up to his standards. Say hi to all the kids.
Jennie and Steve
Mr. C.
ReplyDeleteMoving the bar, again???
ET
Nice blog but you need more pictures of me!
ReplyDelete.
ReplyDeletedoes any1 get #17??? there ALL the same except 4 one of them.
ReplyDeletewhat does #10 have to do with this chapter?????????????????????
ReplyDeleteNumber 10 is one of those question he put on the test all the time.
ReplyDeletenumber ten is one of his questions he puts on all the time
ReplyDeletenumber 17 is the 6th one down
ReplyDeleteNumber 10 is probably a review question, guys. Have you checked your old notes. From the looks of it - this is a study guide for this particular test. Use it wisely!!!! Mr. C. does not waste paper, time, or effort needlessly.
ReplyDeleteAs someone we both know has said, "This is semi-cool"!!!!!!
ReplyDelete#17 isn't all the same. Some are italicized, and others don't have the correct capitals. When you're using the scientific name, the first word starts with a capital, and the second doesn't. So the answer would be Felis domestica.
ReplyDelete#10 is a question we had in one of our first tests, in the beginning of the year. We also went over that in Math.
-----
Mr. C, can you do this for each test? It's a lot easier.
Also, I can't print out that website that you posted on the front page. It says when I print it out,
"No portion of this site may be copied without permission
This page was last updated on 01/29/04"
I don't think that's just my computer.
Hi Kathleen:
ReplyDeleteIf there is an interest I just may do this for a few more tests. I just printed the site given in the blog with no problem. Not sure what the issue is. Try printing at a neighbor or friends house. I have a copy printed for you if you can not get it printed. Maybe Flash will be over with the pages!
Mr. C
Does anyone know what autotroph means?
ReplyDeleteit means that the organism can make it's own food.
ReplyDeleteOn number 17 aren't the first and the last the same?
ReplyDeleteOkay, thanks, I'll try it again.
ReplyDeleteAn autotroph is an organism that can makes it's own food. Plants are autotrophs.
It says it right in the question.
yeah, but they're both wrong.
ReplyDeleteThey are the same, missed that.
ReplyDeleteAnd it also says Felis domestica twice.
But everything else is different.
hi i was wondering what eukariotic and prokariotic mean.... well i hope this gets anwered so i kno
ReplyDeleteeukariotic means that it has a nucleus and organelles and prokariotic means a single-celled organism
ReplyDeletewhat kingdoms are eukariotic ?????
ReplyDeletewhat are prokaryiotic??
yeah, i needa know those ones too.
ReplyDeleteanyone??
a good source for most of this information is that classwork sheet thingy that we did on monday its helping me a lot
ReplyDelete-billy m.
Hello America's Future:
ReplyDeleteA few of you found a couple of mistakes in question 17. Thanks! I fixed them.
Nice to see students helping students! Keep up the great work. Remember... If everyone gets A+'s I still get............
See you tomorrow.
Mr. C
does this sound right:
ReplyDeleteeukariotic- Protists, fungi, plants, animals
prokariotic- Animals
????
i made a mistake
ReplyDeleteprokariotic- monerans
Hi Again:
ReplyDeleteHow about
prokaryote = cells with no nucleus = Monerans
Eukaryote = cells that have nucleus = all other kingdoms
Less is often more,
Mr. C
Hey Mr. c! Your study guide helped me study for the test loads!
ReplyDeleteWhats our next section going to be on?
ReplyDeleteOn question #19, Mr. C change the Animals NOT have to Animals DO NOT have. You forgot the "Do".
ReplyDeleteI don't see more pictures of me yet... :-(
ReplyDeleteThis is an insult! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi Niki:
ReplyDeleteNext is Ch 8 viruses and monerans. Maybe you and and Kathyleen can make the next study guide? I'll show you two how to make one up and post it to the blog. Think about it and see me tomorrow.
Good luck tomorrow,
Mr. C
this helped me a lot i have twice as much notes thn i usually do here!!:)
ReplyDeletethan*
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean on #8, List 4 facts about the taxa species? the taxa species? Isn't taxa meaning clasified? like taxonomy?
ReplyDeleteYeah, I didn't understand that "taxa" thing either. does taxa mean group or...?
ReplyDelete'If everyone gets A+'s I still get............'
ReplyDeletePaid. :)
And the same if we all get F-'s.
Not me. -cough-
Hey Nikki!
Wow, you're being very picky today. :o
it means list facts about kingdom phylum class order family genus and species(by the way thats number one)
ReplyDeletedoes anyone know what heterotroph is?
ReplyDeleteIt needs a BIGGER PIC OF THE FLASH!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd a LLama
ReplyDeleteHi Adam:
ReplyDeleteThis a cat and llama free site!
Nice try!!!
Mr. Carrison
OOOOoooo..... it means it dosent make its own food -I rember this beacuse of "auto"troph wich auto means "auto"maticly it does it does it itself so I think "hetro" means the oposite.and "auto"mobile means self moving in latin I guess.
ReplyDeleteKK :'( cat and llama free.....
ReplyDeleteHah.
ReplyDeleteMe making a study guide is a bad idea, but it would be fun.
Maybe Tay could help too. :D
Um.. i don't know if i'm aloud to ask questions since we're like.. suppose to look them up but I couldn't find the answer..
ReplyDeleteSo.. one who classifys is a taxonmist, right..? I don't know if I spelt it wrong or something.. also sorry to be posting late. >.<;
Yep, that's a taxonomist.
ReplyDelete'The science of classification has now become know as taxonomy.'
Hi Holly:
ReplyDeleteThe only stupid question is one someone did not have the guts to ask!
Anything that ends in "ist" is a perosn who makes a living or has a job doing something. A taxonomist is someone who has a job classifying life found on our planet.
Hope that helps, see you tomorrow!
Mr. C
Okay.. thank you! I don't know if i'm suppose to respond to that either.. >.< And one more question.. is the study guide the basic structure of everything on the test..? Or did you leave out a few things.. so I should take a few more notes just to make sure? Once again sorry for asking stupid simple questions.. x.x;
ReplyDeleteAlso I think adam is right even though I don't know him.. it shouldnt be llama free.. or at least have some camels..
Llama's are evil.
ReplyDeleteYou never know what they could be doing behind our backs.
They do many things..! I've seen them eat and spit in people's hair.. but that is what makes them adorable!
ReplyDeleteHi Holly:
ReplyDeleteThat study guide covers most of the test. I may have missed a couple of questions but if you know the answers to all of the ones on this blog you will be in VERY good shape!.
Did you remember to print the web page I gave you on this blog? Have a parent sign it and maybe.... you can use it on the test!
See you tomorrow,
Mr. C
This'll be my last comment for sure.. >.< sorry for leaving so many..
ReplyDeleteI printed it out and had my grandma sign it.. but my printer is evil and some pages didn't really print out..! Like there's no color in them but i got most of them..
nice, this is semi cool... (semi) unlike me jk
ReplyDeletethis is not really anonymous actually, its just *caitlin* the fantastic.
What does heterotrophic mean?
ReplyDeleteHeterotrophic means they can't make their own food.
ReplyDeleteLike animals.
Ohhh.
ReplyDeletei tried google and it was like... something about nitrogen.
THANKS
I just looked on dictionary.com
ReplyDelete:P
hi this is billy but i have a question .......... Carolus Linnaeus is the so called "Father of Taxonomy" right??????
ReplyDeleteyeah, thats what it says in the book.
ReplyDeleteYeah, because he created the basics of the system used today.
ReplyDeletebilly - k thanks:)
ReplyDeleteBy the way Mr. Carrison, you shouldn't give out all of your personal information, someone might come and abduct you! Actually, maybe that woul'd be semi-cool. Or, they could abduct Flash, not sure why someone would want to do that. Just kidding!
ReplyDelete-Leo, Charlie, and the fish formerly known as Carl (Your three fish)
does anyone know the answer to number 15? Im confused
ReplyDeleteHi Diana:
ReplyDeleteWhy was English not used? Check the t/book and find the language used and why. English was not a root language that most everyone could sort of somewhat understand.
If you run in to "anonymous" tell him/her that I’m safe as I have Flash to protect not only me but also my collection of Science Rap and beloved science text book.
See you tomorrow,
Mr. Carrison
Hi Mr.C!
ReplyDeleteThis is "semi-cool" This really came in handy! i didnt have time 2 post any questions but i looked at the questions on the study guide and found some of the answers online. Even looking at other ppls comments and questions i got some help. Thanks! Maybe u can do this again?????? I hope so!Bye!
~Bridget W

~Bridget Wood
Hi Bridget:
ReplyDeleteCorrect you are! I think this blog posts time in PST or Pacific Standard Time. Have looked in the settings but can not find a way to change the time. You were the only student to mention this! Good observation skills!
And yes, I may do this again. Good luck on the test!
Mr. Carrison
Mr.Carrison this looks like a great way for the kids to brainstorm and have fun at the same time.
