Assigned 3-3-2009
Do not forget the test on Wed on intro to plants and cell reproduction. To prepare I would:
  1. Review chemical and pyhsycal properties
  2. Know all the bingo words
  3. Know all the words listed for the project due Tuesday
  4. Review the crossword puzzles handed out in class
  5. Check out the DOE's MCAS advanced search page and look for all questions having to do with the words and consepts we are currently covering. There are 18 MCAS questions! google "mcas questions advance search" Then Science and Technology/Engineering and then the strand "Life Science" or "Biology" Look through the questons for topics we have covered. Remember I took 18 of them almost all directly from this source!
  6. Review your kingdom definations
  7. What is the difference between the plant and fungi kingdom?
  8. Know the differences between animal and plant cells
  9. What plant and animal organelles are the SAME?
  10. Know photosynthesis cold!
  11. Review life cycle - you had this in 5th grade and earlier
  12. When plants reproduce by budding or by a runner (like straberries or spiderplants) is the new plant different genetically or a "clown?"
  13. Will egg & sperm or pollen and oveule in a plant give you an offspring that is exactly the same or slightly differend from the parent plants?
  14. Review the differences between instinctive and learned behavior.
  15. Review the functions of the popular cell organelles
  16. Know the cell, tissue, organ, organ system and complex organism hierachy bit.
  17. Can you correctly idenify a monocot or dicot by looking at its flower or leaves? You better!
  18. There are MANY 5th grade MCAS questons. PLEASE get them correct or I will HAVE to tease you!!!
  19. Review meiosis and miosis
  20. When a sperm cell gets inside the egg (or pollen to the ovuel) it is called????
  21. Review and know all the other names for gamete and what process makes them


Your Mission:

No later than the begining of your class on 3-17-2009 is due either a crossword puzzle or a Make-A-Test. Your choice! If you choose the crossword puzzle it should have 20 to 22 clues. Should you want to complete another Make-A-Test it should have a total of 16 questions. Ten must be multiple choice.

> Can have 2 review questions
> Can have 1 fun question
> Must have words from list below

> Late work - 100 points

> 1 copy for me, one answer key and 5 copies for peers

> Must have 2 pictures or clip are PROPERLY formated

> Margins MUST be pushed to less than .7 inch

> Test possible answers MUST be lined up using the tab

What is an Easter Egg??? (computer software reference) Well they are hidden tricks or surprises in popular software. Open Microsoft Word and type in (or cut and paste) =rand(200,99) then hit enter. Hum.... different or what! Now just change the NUMBER to say one then hit enter. Wonder why this sentence??? Hint: Check out the letters!
